Despite I really like this picture, unfortunately it was unusable as a final print. Looking at the negative I was already aware that there was a light leak on the top left corner, but since I really liked the composition, I decided to give it a go anyway.
When I looked at the print I thought that, if I spent some time on it, I would have probably managed to get rid of the light leak, the part where it is visible is pitch black so I may have burnt that corner and reduced the shade. The other obvious option was cropping, but I thought it would have ruined the composition, so I excluded it.
Anyway, I decided to leave this print apart because the focus was less pleasing as it was on the small negative, in fact, only the hands were sharp and all the rest was very soft. I had another similar shot so I made the final print of that.
Another previous print that I excluded from my final submission is this one:

I remember that when I took the shot I thought that it was potentially a very strong one. I really like the horse framing the man and the shadow on the ground, but the actual shot turned quite weak.
One of the issue that I had shooting at the racecourse is that people must wear high-visibility jackets outside and they look horrible in pictures since they reflect the light. There have been several occasions in which I had to exclude (or not shooting at all) a shot because of the effect of the visibility jackets.
The other problem of this picture is that the man is partially hidden so the framing doesn't really make the subject to stand out how I wished. For these reasons, I decided to to include this print in my final selection.
