For Tales of Gloucestershire Stories Assignment 001 - I will be covering the following subject matter:

The front yard: a border between private and public space.

Walking around Cheltenham I noticed how the typical British front-gardens change according to the necessity and the social status of their owners. I want to develop the concept of the front garden as a border between public and private, in fact this area is a private space subject to people's view and it's interesting how the same environment can assume completely different purposes. For some people it is just a place to show off, for others it becomes a storage area for their waste and recycling bins or it can even be a food source where to grow vegetables and greens.

Another fascinating aspect is how people behave in this area. It isn't an indoor space but it is private, so the owners often feel comfortable to stay there wearing their pajamas and slippers even if they are totally exposed to strangers' view.
