I have followed the blog of this photographer for years and here I have made a selection of his shoots where is involved the use of flash.

Daylight+direct flash. Wide-angle lens (probably 50mm), shot taken extremely close to the subject, as we can see from the distortion. Wide aperture, bright and soft background. The shadows of the face are very sharp (the right side is even dark) and we can see the catchlights in the eyes, as well on the teeth, on the accessories and on the lips.

Direct flash+small aperture, the subject is isolated from the dark background.

I don't think the photographer used a flash. This picture must have been taken in a sunny day during the brightest hour, that generated this high contrast and sharp shadows.

Direct flash, as we can guess from the reflections on the glasses. High ISO, indoor space (I would say a subway or similar). Wide-angle lens, subject distorted.

Bright sunny day + direct flash. Without the flash, the face would be absolutely dark because the light source is from the back. Wide aperture, wide-angle lens and fast shutter speed.

Direct flash+ small aperture. The background is dark apart from the strong light dot caused by the reflecting surface.

Indoor space, direct flash (it can't be bounced on the ceiling, otherwise we would have a strong shadow under the chin). Quite a small aperture, everything is sharp, the back ground is illuminated by natural light.
